While we’re on the subject…

I feel that this is the first proper introduction to the world I have ever given.  I have trounced these hallowed internet halls for a long time, when the web was wee young, awkward and still fumbling with lacing up its shoes and using a raised hand with outstretched thumb to tell Left from Right.  (If your finger and thumb make an “L” that’s your left, but we won’t judge you yet, this is only the first post.)

Well if you so demand it, then let’s go.  Full disclosure.  Laid out like a blanket on the grass, under the sun with the picnic basket wide open.  Pass the fried chicken and here we go!

My name is Eric Gibson.  Don’t Google it, there is already someone famous with my name.  I am a self taught everything, from HTML to drawing straight lines and back to CSS.  Did it all.  Funny story really, I began my stroll into geekdom by programming Texas Instrument calculators  back in high school!  Good ol’ BASIC, then moved on to C++, game design with direct x and then back to web development.  I love video games, late hours, good sweet tea, and sea food.  I am writing this at 1 o’clock in the morning.  I am most creative when it rains.  Short sentences.

I really, really like this stuff. Think of it as a perfectly normal foot fetish.  I really like to code.  I like design.  I really like art.  I am deep digging some mid-century retro.  I have a dog named Guillermo, but that’s off topic.  I am passionate about design, and absolutely kid-at-Christmas excited for what the future holds for this industry as everything that we know leans more to fast, quick accessibility and mythical cloud-based everything.

So why the blog? It came time for me to venture out, and by admitting that it was time to jump out of my warm nest into the cold world, I got real.  Twitter is a fascinating means of communicating, Facebook has it’s uses, and blogging is one of two ways that I get ALL of the information that I search for on the internet.  Blogging represents unadulterated information squeezed out of great minds looking for an audience to share it with.  I want to squeeze some knowledge or insight out too!  So I decided to get with it, get with the times and write a blog with the intention of giving you (my future audience) a nugget of something that you didn’t come where with.  Oh, the second place I get my information?  Message boards.  Absolutely indispensable objects of awesome.

Well I hope that you can put up with me for the next rest of eternity, and that anything I toss your way ends up not in your dismal history cache, but as a “what was that site where I read about that thing that I need to remember so I can know about that such and so forth?”  Oh yeah, skylinedesignstudios.com.
